Childhood & Paternal Inspiration
Born on December 16, 1977, in Piravom, Ernakulam. As the son of T.M. Jacob, one of Kerala's most articulate ministers and legislators, he grew up closely observing political negotiations, policy formulation, and constituency management.
KSC (M) Leadership and Legal Training
Pursued higher studies in law and earned his LL.B. from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram. He was highly active in the Kerala Students Congress (Jacob) faction, serving as its State President and leading student agitations for academic quality.
Youth Wing and Grassroots Focus
Took charge as the President of the Youth Front (Jacob). He focused on building organizational strength in Ernakulam and Kottayam districts, championing the rights of young entrepreneurs and agricultural workers.
By-Election Win & Cabinet Debut
Following the sudden demise of his father T.M. Jacob, Anoop contested the Piravom by-election in 2012 and won a decisive mandate. He was immediately inducted into the cabinet as Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, becoming one of the youngest cabinet members.
Consolidating Legislative Presence
Re-elected from Piravom in 2016 and 2021. He served as the leader of Kerala Congress (Jacob), raising key assembly questions on the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and agrarian welfare.
Restoring Price Stability and Supplies
Re-appointed as the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, and Legal Metrology in the 2026 Satheesan cabinet. His priority is the complete digitization of the public distribution system (PDS) and strengthening the Supplyco network.
