Childhood in Malappuram
Born in Wandoor, Malappuram on March 15, 1965. Raised in a socially conscious family, his childhood experiences motivated him to work toward the socio-economic empowerment of marginalized communities.
Student and Youth Leadership
Entered public service through the Kerala Students Union (KSU) and later held key leadership positions in the Youth Congress in Malappuram district, leading campaigns for social equality.
Local Governance Achievements
Elected to local body councils, establishing himself as a hands-on leader who worked to expand public roads, school buildings, and drinking water facilities in rural Malappuram.
Assembly Entry and Ministerial Debut
First elected to the assembly in 2001 from Vandur. In 2004, he was appointed as the Minister for Welfare of Backward Classes in the Oommen Chandy cabinet, launching innovative scholarship programs.
Tourism Minister & Five-time MLA
Appointed as the Minister for Tourism and SC Welfare in 2011. During this term, he launched international tourism campaigns like "Grand Kerala Shopping Festival" and initiated major housing schemes for SC/ST families.
Reforming the Revenue Department
Sworn in as the Minister for Land and Revenue in the Satheesan cabinet on May 18, 2026. He is currently executing the digital re-survey of land holdings and introducing automated digital services in village offices.
