Hills of Wayanad to Kozhikode
Born on December 22, 1971, in Kaniyambetta, Wayanad. He grew up in the serene, agrarian landscape of Wayanad, which instilled in him a deep empathy for tribal communities and rural settlers.
Youth League Leadership
Pursued college education in Kozhikode, where he became highly active in student and youth wings of the IUML. His exceptional oratorical skills and organizing capabilities led to his appointment as the State President of the Muslim Youth League.
Statewide Campaigns and Social Activism
Led numerous high-profile statewide marches against administrative corruption, drug menace, and religious extremism. He worked to establish the Youth League as a progressive, secular force among Kerala's youth.
Historic Legislative Win in Azhikode
Elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly in 2011 from the Azhikode constituency in Kannur, defeating the CPM candidate in their traditional stronghold. He was re-elected in 2016, establishing himself as a key voice in the assembly.
Legislative Battles & Policy Advocacy
Remained an active legislator, highlighting issues regarding rural infrastructure, coastal protection, and administrative transparency. He faced political and legal challenges during this period, which he successfully navigated.
Empowering Local Governance
Returned to represent Azhikode and was inducted into the cabinet in 2026. As the Minister for Local Self Governments and Excise, he is focused on standardizing panchayat services, solid-waste management, and decentralizing financial resources.
